KIWANIS CLUB OF HOMEWOOD- MOUNTAIN BROOK
INSTALLS NEW OFFICERS

Brian S. Rodgers of Indian Springs, Alabama was installed as president of the Kiwanis Club of Homewood- Mountain Brook during the club’s meeting on October 3, 2007, at The Club, Inc.. Also installed were President-Elect Richard Berliner, Vice President L. George Williams, Treasurer John Rives, and Secretary William Clement.

In addition, the following members will serve on the club’s board of directors: Thomas Callison, William Henderson, Michael Frederick, Hal Parrish, Patricia Manasco, William Hanks, James Reilly, and Richard Stanford.

The immediate past president is Chuck Kelly. He will continue to serve on the club board for the next year.

Brian Rodgers will be serving as club president on the worldwide Kiwanis leadership team with newly elected Kiwanis International President Donald R. Canaday of Fishers, Indiana. Kiwanis International’s major service focus, a program called “Young Children: Priority One,” will continue during 2007-08.

Recent club service activities have included such projects as providing meals for parents during Children’s Hospital’s Parents Night Out, sponsoring grief counseling sessions for bereaved children at The Amelia Center, supporting The Exceptional Foundation, providing scholarships for outstanding seniors at Homewood and Mountain Brook High Schools, and financially supporting many other worthy children’s charities..

The Kiwanis motto is “Serving the Children of the World”. Kiwanis International includes 8,400 clubs with more than 270,000 members in 96 nations. Last year, Kiwanis clubs donated more than $100 million and almost 6 million volunteer hours for community service projects.
